‘ESCAPE TO DUNN’S LAGOON‘

Who would have ever imagined that we could have ALL 4 seasons in one day?

That’s exactly what happened on the August Cobweb escapade to ‘Clayton and beyond’.

The day started with a hearty breakfast of eggs, bacon, tomato, beans, toast and coffee. All prepared to perfection by the ‘cooks in training‘ on the BBQ, wielding tongs and spatulas.

A great gathering of ‘Cobwebbers‘ who enjoyed the breakfast get together prior to the cruise to Dunn’s Lagoon for a friendly lunch stop.

It was a special celebration to get together for two ‘old friends’.  David Smallacombe introduced his ‘long time ago‘ surfing mate Ken White.  Wow, their surfing days went back in time for over 60 years when they surfed the breaks along the West Coast as teenagers. David, known as ‘Doc‘ and Ken, known as ‘Kiwi‘ told stories of the great times shared years ago. We heard that ‘Kiwi’ had spent several years surfing the breaks around the world before settling in Port Lincoln.

One can imagine the stories of past escapades which were kept locked away!!    What a great long-time friendship.

The weather to Clayton and beyond challenged the yachties in the group with  ‘gusty tailwinds and variations!' For the more leisurely motor brigade, all was made to order!! Five boats made the trip and presented a great spectacle at the ‘jetties’

The Club BBQ was waiting at the landing thanks to "Mal’s delivery service’’.  Then Winter arrived. Rain. So the order of the day was  Onboard hospitality before a Spring weather return to Goolwa.

Thanks to all who made the day out friendly and memorable.

It's on again on the last Wednesday in September (25th) when the destination will be  Wally’s Landing so make a note to join the COBWEBBERS‘ for Brekkie and the cruise.

Riverside trip an absolute treat

After a hearty breakfast ‘’cooked to perfection’’ by The Smallacombes' and The Hancocks’ (great pics of the chefs in action) a small but enthusiastic ‘fleet’ motored/sailed to '’Riverside’ to enjoy a BBQ dinner. Members also travelled ‘by land’’ to join the festivities. Nibbles were to the fore with warming drinks!! accompanied by sing along entertainment.  Wow What a great night.

Thanks go to the set up crew’’ who transported the BBQ,tables and other essentials. Our thanks to Charles for the use of the ‘old sheep shed’ and for the set up assistance to transform the work shed into ‘’a palace for dining’’

Keep a look out for news about the next COBWEB breakfast and ‘outing’   This will be in August as July is a ‘lay day’
